Our answers to your frequently asked questions:

1. What kind of store is the Polka Dot Attic?
We're the last funky store in Danville. We've been called all kinds of things, because we are a unique place, selling antique and vintage items, specializing in cloth items (clothes, aprons, tablecloths, fabrics, quilts, doilies, Raggedy Anns, you name it). But now we also sell new wooden signs, reproduction metal signs, a variety of animal and holiday bells, new serving and display pieces (think tea parties), new cards, notecards, and gift books. We also sell a wide variety of vintage paper items including greeting cards, postcards, patterns, books, and sheet music.

2. Are we a thrift store?
No.

3. Do people donate items here?
No, unless they are vintage and approved by the owner (rarely).

4. Do we buy vintage items?
Not in the current economy.

5. Do we do consignment?
No.

6. Do we do trades on vintage items?
Possibly, but most likely not.

7. Do we rent costumes?
No, we sell costumes.

8. Do we buy back costumes?
No.

9. Do we have room to sell your homemade items?
Unfortunately, no.

10. Do we take returns?
Yes, for exchange or store credit only.

11. Where do we get the vintage items?
From estate sales.

12. Where do we get the new items?
The new items come from various wholesale vendors.

13. Can we make special order signs with our own sayings?
No, unless you order 6 of the same saying (the signs can be in different colors).

14. Can you order your wooden signs in smaller sizes?
No.

15. Can you order your signs in different colors?
Yes, there are now 23 to choose from (there used to only be 15).

16. How long does it take to get a special sign or special color order?
Anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks.

17. Can we return the sign if it doesn't fit/ we don't like it?
Yes, for exchange or store credit.

18. Can we change the font?
No.

19. Is our building getting town down?
No, it is historic and protected.

20. Do we like doing inventory?
No. With the exception of large items and new books, our wares change frequently (too frequently to merit posting all of our items for sale on our website, certainly!)

21. Do we have gift certificates?
Yes.

22. Do we still do author readings?
Yes, but less frequently. Please get on our email list if you would like to be notified.
